Objective
The student knows the mechanisms of damage to gilded and surface-treated objects with other techniques, mainly painting frames or mirror frames, knows how to identify surface treatment materials and other materials of the object, which are essential for the selection of conservation materials and methods. The student can independently, but with the lecturer's approval, define and document the materials and damage of the object and carry out ethically and aesthetically acceptable conservation and restoration measures for the object.
Content
Cleaning of gilded and other surface-treated objects, mainly frames, preparation of missing decorative elements using different materials and techniques, puttying / filling and various suitable surface treatment restoration / restoration painting / patination methods, if possible, patching of gilded and silvered surfaces using original methods.
Location and time
The teaching is organized as face-to-face teaching on the Arabia campus from 9:15 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Opetus järjestetään vko 19-20 Arabian kampuksella. Kurssille voi tuoda oman kehyksen mukaan (ei kovin isoa mielellään). Kurssin minimiosallistujamäärä on 8. Jos osallistujamäärä ei tule täyteen, kurssi ei toteudu.

The student is able to understand the basic concepts of conservation of gilded and surface decorated objects and knows at a basic level the related theory, documentation, materials, analysis methods and conservation methods. The student handles the basics of the course and understands the main content of the course. The student understands the necessary theoretical and applied principles related to the topic. The student is able to acquire some information independently.
