Learning outcomes

The student will learn to enhance their professional proficiency in English and to use appropriate register in working life and academic situations. The student will gain an understanding of writing formal texts in English and how to cite references, as well as creating reference lists. The student will learn to write topical and formal texts and develop their overall professional English language skills.

Assessment methods and criteria

The course is graded numerically from 0 to 5. 0 is a failed grade, the student must get grade 1 to pass the course. Grade 5 is the highest grade.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student understands the basics of academic writing and can create basic written reports and oral presentations. The student identifies the principles of referencing.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student can use references skillfully and analyse the reliability of sources. The student is able to perform oral presentations fluently, and apply the principles of academic writing in written work.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student demonstrates excellent oral and writing skills and can critically analyse their own work. The student can use a variety of sources and assess the reliability of the sources from an analytical point of view.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student understands the basics of academic writing and can create basic written reports and oral presentations. The student identifies the principles of referencing.
