Objective

The students can identify the mainstreams of the historical development in live performance productions and performing arts. They understand the connection between the current live performance production its earlier history. The students can outline the main features of past live performance productions to the present day. They can critically evaluate the present state of their field and future aspects with respect to history. The students are able to analyze live performances they see: they can name, describe and relate to each other different elements of a live performance, especially from the point of view of elements related to live performance engineering. The students are able to acquire information related to the history of live performance arts.

Instructions on the use of materials can be obtained from the Classroom workspace in the beginning of the course unit at the latest.

Further information

The course requires at least 80% attendance. The procedure for replacing the absence is agreed with the teacher in charge of the course unit. The schedule of the course can be found in Lukkari. All parts of the course must be completed successfully.

Lectures and Zoom-sessions will be recorded for the participants. The recordings will be distributed for example by Microsoft Stream and Google Classroom. The recordings will be available for 2 years. If a student will not want to participate recordings, student should discuss with lecturer.

The students know well the outline of the history of performing arts and live performance engineering, and the key concepts of live performance analysis. They are able to research and acquire new information about the history of the field of plive erformance arts. They are able to analyze structures and elements of a live performance.

The students know well the outline of the history of performing arts and live performance engineering, and the key concepts of live performance analysis. They are able to research and acquire new information about the history of live performance arts. They are able to analyze structures and elements of a live performance in a detailed and versatile way. They are able to apply their knowledge of the history of performing arts in their activities in a versatile way.
