Objective
On completion of the course, the student
• can responsibly develop innovative practical and concrete solutions, practices, products or services with multidisciplinary partners to meet the diverse future needs and current challenges in the metropolitan area

• The concept of innovation, development work management and building a development team
• Collaborative project and innovation work and assessment: brainstorming, future-oriented conceptualisation and design, customer and user understanding, contracts and copyrights, communicating, publishing, productisation, marketing and implementation planning
• Multidisciplinary teamwork, stakeholder activities and networking
• Innovation development tools and methods

Some teacher-led lessons at the beginning of the study period
The main form of work is student-led project group work on the project itself and the weekly theme assignments of project management

Työmäärä koostuu projektinhallinnan ja viestinnän oppitunneista, seminaariesityksistä sekä projektityöskentelystä pienryhmissä.
Content scheduling
Project management:
-lessons according to the timetable, mostly at the beginning of the course
-independent work of project groups and weekly reporting (internal project group meetings 2-3 times a week)
English Project Communication: some lectures, additionally teams and students work with assigned tasks.
Further information
Innovation project includes also project communication studies; for Finnish projects this takes place in Finnish and for English projects in English. These communication parts are quite similar but due to different curriculum structure of different degree programs, may also differ to some extent. For more details, carefully see the OMA-workspace and follow the instruction of the communication teacher supervising you.

Assessment methods and criteria
Project is assessed on scale of 0 - 5.
Project management: 100 p
-each project week has project management tasks to be evaluated, most of which are group tasks
English communication gives max 50p for the end evaluation. These points are based on assigned tasks.

Assessment is focused on the work carried out during the course, the gained competence and knowledge upon the completion of the course, the outcomes of the project and meeting the project goals and creating innovative concrete and implementable solutions.
