Objective

The student will learn to dimension and select statically loaded joints between machine elements. The student will learn to understand engineering material properties in theory and in practice and is able to create suitable machine part combinations.

Content

1. Machine element joints: spring, screw, weld, deformation, glue and brazing.
2. Machine hub and shaft joints: prescribed form and friction
3. Tensile, shear, bending and toughness tests
4. Creep and fatigue
5. Manufacturing method influences on engineering engineering material selection

Evaluation scale

0-5

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student recognizes machine elements and is able to search and select needed calculation formulas for jointing.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to dimension and calculate joints for mechanical arrangements.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
