Objective
Students are able to design and implement a website. They can use online publishing techniques, tools and platforms in their projects. Students are introduced in publishing various media formats. Students know the key principles of usability and user interface design and they can apply them when designing the visual appearance of a web service. Students know the characteristics of online typography. They are able to design interactive functions for a web service and know the basic methods of search engine optimization. Students are able to apply their skills in project work.

The student is able to implement a web page and publish it. The student is able to describe usability factors of a user interface. The student is able to design the visuals, typography and interactions of a website with appropriate tools. The student is able to save media files in a format suitable for online publication.

The student is able to design, implement and publish a website with mostly appropriate design choices concerning visuals and usability. The student is able to analyze the usability of a user interface. The student is able to design the visuals, typography and interactions of a website or a digital application with appropriate tools and take into account the principles of visual user interface design in their own design work. The student is able to save and optimize media files in a format suitable for online publication. The student is able to schedule their work in a web design project.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student is able to design, implement and publish a high quality website with appropriate design choices concerning visuals and usability. The student is able to analyze the usability of a website or a digital application systematically. The student is able to design the visuals, typography and interactions of a website or a digital application with appropriate tools, apply the principles of visual user interface design in their own design work and justify the solutions analytically. The student is able to save and optimize media files in a format suitable for online publication taking different use contexts into account. The student is able to apply what they have learned and seek information independently to solve problems. The student is able to plan and schedule their work in a web design project.
