    Visual Communication Design - Graphic Design

Objective

Students know the factors that affect corporate image design and understand their role in image building. Students perceive an image building project as an entity and they can implement projects to meet the needs of the client. Students can apply their knowledge in graphic design and typography in theory and practice. Students can choose the appropriate design tools and materials for a graphic design project and they manage the production process in the role of graphic designer. Students can choose the right colour settings for their work and produce a file that is fit for offset or computer printing. Students understand copyright legislation and are able to comply with it in their work.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student knows the factors that influence the visual image design and understands their significance. The student understands the main content of the visual image project and is able to implement it. The student is able to choose appropriate design tools and understand the graphic production process to the extent required for design work. The student understands the significance of copyright law from a designer’s perspective. They are able to work both independently and as a member of a group. The student is able to present the material they produce.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student knows the factors influencing the visual image design and understands their significance. The student is able to implement the project, respecting the assignment. The student knows the design tools and materials of their choice and masters the graphic production process to the extent designated by the design work. The student is familiar with copyright law, understands its significance and is able to utilize it in their design work. They are able to work both independently and as a member of a group. The student is able to present the material they produce in a visually interesting way.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student has a deep knowledge of the factors influencing the visual image design and understands their significance. The student is able to implement the project analytically and creatively, respecting the assignment. The student is able to choose appropriate design tools, materials and channels. They master the graphic production process to the extent required by the design work. The student is familiar with copyright law, understands its significance and is able to utilize it in their design work. They are able to work smoothly both independently and as a member of a group. The student is able to present the material they produce in a convincing and visually interesting way.
