Objective

On completion of the course the student can
- identify characteristics of various art disciplines and their means of expression
- recognize different concepts of art
- describe art in different roles and contexts
- apply basic art analysis tools
- provide background and link latest art phenomena to the current social framework
- understand the concept of art experience and discuss it
- identify the characteristics of the creative artistic process and the professional practices of the artist
- formulate their own concepts of art

The student is able to identify different definitions of art and understands how contemporary art phenomena are related to public debate. The student knows how art is discussed in the media.

The student is able to discuss their own concept of art. The student identifies different means of expression and disciplines of art and is able to analyze art. The student is able to provide background and connect the latest art phenomena to the current social context. The student is able to describe art in different roles and contexts. They understand art as an experience and can discuss it. The student understands the qualities of the creative process and the professional practices of the artist.

The student is able to discuss and analyze their own definition of art. The student identifies different means of expression and disciplines of art and is able to analyze art with distinction. The student is able to provide background and connect the latest art phenomena to the current social context. The student knows the central concepts of art, and is able to describe art in different roles and contexts. The student understands art as an experience and can discuss it in different contexts.
