Objective

The students know how to plan, implement, document and evaluate the learning of a child or a group of children,
as well as plan comprehensive, goal-oriented and pedagogically oriented activities that support well-being. They know how to support and enrich the child's play.

Content

Play theories, the importance of play in the child's learning, storytelling play. Taking the early childhood education plan based transversal competence of the child into account and areas of learning when planning the activities.Phenomenon-based and investigative learning.

Teaching is organized on the Myllypuro campus.
Changes are possible and they will be announced in the orientation lecture.

You have to be present during this course (100%). The teacher can give additional assignments based on pedagogical reasons.
Reflection (one page) about lecture's subject is required for each absence.

Employer connections

The child project -assignment is implemented in working life, in early childhood education.
In addition, exercises and cooperation also with early childhood education and Metropolia's HyMy village (eg in the family café) and with other students studying there. Groups of children may also attend the lectures.

Numerical grade is given for the project / project report, based on which an overall evaluation of the course is given.

If the student has a special support decision that affects the course, the student must contact the course supervisor immediately after the end of the registration period.

Teachers have the right to give the student additional duties, for example, due to absenteeism, on pedagogical grounds.
The tuition is both in English and in Finnish.
The lectures are mainly in Finnish, but the materials (lecture and other materials) are in both languages. Students can use the language of their choice.
