Objective

The student is able to recognize the most common sports injuries and their aetiology. The student manages differential diagnoses of lower extremity problems and malfunctions in the lower extremity kinetic chain as well as their rehabilitation. The student considers the needs of athletes of different ages as podiatric clients and is able to apply podiatric methods in a versatile and purposeful manner in the rehabilitation of sports and exercise-related injuries. The student knows the principles of physical exercise and the assessment of physical performance. The student has an understanding of specific training related to different sports.

The student is able to describe the structure and functional properties of different athletic footwear. The student understands the possibilities of athletic footwear in the prevention and rehabilitation of sports injuries.

-Lower extremity sports injuries and malfunction, and their rehabilitation
-Differential diagnoses
-Podiatric application for athletes
-Basics of assessing physical exercise and physical performance
-Sport specific training
-Structure, functional properties, and the possibilities in injury prevention of athletic footwear in the prevention and rehabilitation of sports injuries
-Interpretation of wear marks in athletic shoes
