Learning outcomes
The students will be familiar with volunteer and civic activities in a versatile way. The students will plan and complete an internship according to their own professional interests. They will strengthen their professional competency. With their activities, the students will promote inclusion, agency, human rights, equality and sustainable development.
Content
Students will be familiar with the importance, principles, and practices of volunteer work. The internship will be
completed during the studies according to the plan presented by the students. The internship can be linked to e.g. civic activities or volunteering and support person activities.

-Independent orientation assignment
- Finding a place for the internship in the voluntary and civic environments and implementing the internship
-Self evaluation
Location and time
The INFO on the 5.2. klo 12.45-16.00 (MPA4011) is held in Finnish. The info slides are in Finnish/English and you can make questions in English. Invitation to the info will be sent by e-mail to the students who are accepted in the study unit.
The assignments and instructions of the study unit are found in Moodle, after the student is accepted to the unit. The key to Moodle work space will be sent for students before orientation 5.2.2024.

You can implement the study unit flexibly throughout your studies. It is not anchored in certain period but it is counted in the 1 year studies.

Teachers Heli Määttänen takes care of marking the grades, AHOT-applications, study assignments. Sylvia Hakari co'operates with the voluntary and civic environment placements and informs students the possible internship places through Moodle.
The study unit is compulsory to the social field students. Metropolia students from other fields can have is as an optional study. The study unit fits also Open university students and 3AMK students.
