Advanced Clinical Practice in Midwifery (7 ECTS)

Objective

Students
- are able to apply the theoretical and clinical competence required by the clinical practice environment to their midwifery practice
- can plan, implement and evaluate counselling promoting sexual and reproductive health to various groups by adopting a client-oriented and responsible approach to it and working as members of multidisciplinary teams
- are able to apply clinical and decision-making midwifery skills to authentic and simulated situations
- follow the ethical guidelines and principles of midwifery
- identify development needs of nursing and midwifery
- are competent in working life skills
- are able to evaluate their professional competence and develop it further

Content

Clinical practice in different operating environments of midwifery.

Location and time

Preliminary info at week 20, 13.5 klo 16.15-17.15 (zoom).
The course begins on week 42, 14.10., with face-to-face teaching at Myllypuro campus.

Participation in lectures, Parent education sessions and simulations is mandatory.

Students must confirm their attendance for a course implementation by being present when tuition begins (at week 42) or in another manner agreed with the lecturer; for example, by returning the first course assignment. Students who are unable to attend the first teaching session due to illness may also confirm their attendance by informing the lecturer of this in advance
