Objective
Students utilise the knowledge they have previously learned about neurological diseases of the musculoskeletal system and the functional limitations caused by them. Students become acquainted with the orthosis needs caused by various diseases and injuries. Students describe the purposes of foot and ankle orthoses and are able to justify the choice of orthosis.
Students practice the fitting of the product and provide guidance and instructions on the use of orthosis to the client. Students compare the relationship between the functional starting point and the final output from professional perspectives. Students strengthen their skills in meeting the client and evaluating aids
Content
• Most common diseases and functional impairments causing the need for orthosis
• Orthoses of the foot and ankle area
• Most common components and factors influencing their selection
• Examination and measurement
• Manufacturing process and techniques
