Objective

The student can describe the physical load factors of care and therapy work. Students can identify the importance of ergonomic principles in the prevention of musculoskeletal problems, and they are able to demonstrate their competence in using them in their own operations. Students are capable of planning and instructing clients’ safe assistance and transfer that supports the clients’ functional ability. The student can describe the basics of physical activity guidance and is able to implement individual and objective physical activity guidance for different-aged people, which supports the client’s functional ability and health as well as the client’s physical activity behaviour. The purpose of the work placement is to develop students’ professional competence to operate in dialogue in interaction with their work community and clients. Students know how to implement basic physiotherapy methods in a client-oriented manner. Students’ key professional competence and expertise deepen systematically as the studies progress.

Content

Assistance and instruction of mobility and transfer that promotes the client's functional ability.
Basics of planning, guiding and instructing health-enhancing physical activity
Physical activity guidance and instruction skills
Students’ work placement is always a goal-oriented, supervised and evaluated activity.

Location and time

3rd and 4th period. Myllypuro Campus. Work Placement 6.5.-19.5.2024.
Virtual physiotherapy exchange will start during first period.

If the student has individualized educational support / study arrangements, shall this student contact the teacher of the course immediately after the end of the registration period (or latest before the start of the course.)

It is not allowed to use or distribute any tasks, assignments or MATERIALS in any other way than in the student's own studies. Distributing ONLY with the teacher's personal permission.

Students must confirm their attendance for a course implementation by being present when tuition begins or in another manner agreed with the lecturer; for example, by returning the first course assignment. Students who are unable to attend the first teaching session due to illness may also confirm their attendance by informing the lecturer in advance. Being accepted to a course is conditional until the prior competence requirements determined for the course have been checked. If a registered student does not participate in the course implementation, the lecturer responsible for the course will remove the student from the implementation within two weeks from its start.

Absences will be compensated.
