Rhythm & Blues Workshop and Ensemble (5 cr)

Objective

The student knows how to function as a member of an ensemble. The student knows various styles of rhythm & blues and can delineate their role in an ensemble both as soloist and accompanist. The student can play/sing essential repertoire of different eras rhythm & blues from memory. The student is capable of taking on responsibilities related to working in an ensemble. The student develops interaction skills and can reflect on their own work and that of others, as well as express themselves both orally and in writing. The student is able to write and read music notation and knows the basics of rhythm & blues improvisation.

Vuosikymmenet: 1950, 1960 ja 1970
Tyypillisiä piirteitä R&B tyyliselle ohjelmistolle:
- Blues-tonaliteetti ja äänenväri?- Soolot ja improvisointi?- Afro-amerikkalainen rytmiikka
- Tanssittavuus & rytminen jatkumo
WORKSHOP: 3 op.
Kontaktiopetus: 13 x 90min (ohjatut) lisäksi omatoimiharjoituksia. Torstaisin klo 14:45-16:15 ,yksi ryhmä 15:00-16:30
Arvioitavaan esitykseen valmistetaan:
-  yhteensä 4 WS bändiä, kaikille 5 yhteistä sävellystä ( Let the Good Times Roll, Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag, ?Isn’t She Lovely, Respect, And the Melody Still Lingers On
-  kaksi (2) sävellystä per vuosikymme
-  2 vapaavalintaista sävellystä (tyylin puitteissa
-  ohjelmisto esitetään ulkoa , voidaan sopia esim soolo biisit ulko laulajille
Päätetään tentti ohjelmisto myöhemmin ilmoitettavana päivänä pian, Kaikki tentti biisit ulkoa.
Lukukauden aikana jokainen yhtyeen jäsen tuo yhden transkriptioimansa sävellyksen yhtyetunnille sekä harjoituttaa yhtyeen ko. sävellyksen esitykseen. Jokainen opiskelija valmistaa myös yhden suullisen esityksen valitsemastaan artistista.

?ENSEMBLE: 2 op. (alkaa marraskuun lopussa)?- Opettaja-muusikko valitsee esitettävän taiteellisen kokonaisuuden - lyhytperiodi työskentelyä 20h kontaktia kaikkineen?- noin 4-5 harjoituskertaa (pidempiä)?- opettajamuusikko soittaa mahdollisesti yhtyeessä mukana ?- Esiintyminen Rhythm Blues Backhanalissa – Mahdollisesti tiistai 12.12.2024
