Objective

The student knows the basics of polymeric chemistry. The student is able to classify natural and synthetic materials into chemical groups and understands the effect of a chemical construction on the characteristics of a material. Student knows the factors that influence on the aging of materials and what kind of affect they have on materials chemical structure. The student is able to identify natural and synthetic materials by using basic chemical analyzes.

Content

Theory of natural and synthetic materials. Laboratory assignments.
Construction of natural and polymeric materials and different factors related to strength, solubility and aging of these materials.

The student is able to understand the basic concepts and theory related to the course. The student masters the basic skills and knows at a basic level the chemical constructions and ageing of materials used in conservation. The student is able to acquire information independently.
