Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the students are able to:
• perceive the responsibilities, processes and dynamics of teamwork in the clothing industry.
• plan work steps related to outsourcing.
• recognize women's body dimensions.
• design women's clothing using body measurements and sizing charts.
• design and prove clothes according to the styles.
• use their problem solving and communication skills in the product team and identify the needs of documentation as well as document the necessary stages of manufacture.
• recognize high-quality, well-fitting clothing.
• use ready-made patterns for product sizing and tabulating the measures.
Content
The communal processes of industrially manufactured clothing and the responsibilities related to teamwork. Pattern making and manufacture of women’s blouses and shirts, taking industrial methods into account. Women's body dimensions, measurements and standardized tables. Shaping clothing according to the agreed style, and searching for a good fit through fittings and making changes in the patterns. Relevant measurement points for pattern making are set for the garment description, i.e. the product is dimensioned.
