Objective

Upon completion the student will know the stages of the industrial design process and is able to recognize the role of a designer in product development and business operations. The student will learn about the factors affecting product design. The student will learn to recognize the problems in design work, solve these problems and justify the chosen solutions. The student will also understand the meaning of self-evaluation when producing a portfolio and developing a professional identity and is able to use a portfolio actively as a development method for his/her expertise and identity.

The student is able to describe the stages of the design process.
The student knows the basics of project work within design.
The student knows how to acquire the background information for a design process, and how to analyze and utilise the data in problem solving situations. The student is able to present individual outputs through visual, written and oral communication.
