Objective

The student can communicate in diverse social and service situations. The student understands written and spoken communication, can produce written language, and can communicate orally in different situations.

Content

Written and oral language skills, structures, vocabulary, pronunciation

Location and time

The course takes place in Leiritie 1 from the 20th of January until the 12th of May.

Materials

All learning materials will be provided.

Teaching methods

The course is based on contact lectures, and it will use the flipped method. Students must revise the material before the contact lectures, where we will clarify doubts and practice. All materials and homework will be uploaded to Moodle.

Employer connections

Spanish is a widely spoken language that will open further studies, internships and work possibilities.

Exam schedules

The exam will take place in Metropolia's EXAM Aquarium, and students can re-sit their exams.

International connections

Learning Spanish will not only allow students to communicate but also get a glimpse into the Spanish and Latin American cultures.

The course is based on a five credits workload.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student has achieved the course objectives fairly. The student will be able to identify, define and use the course subject area’s concepts and models. The student understands the criteria and principles of the expertise development.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student has achieved the course objectives well, even though the knowledge and skills need improvement on some areas. The student is able to define the course concepts and models and are able to justify the analysis. The student is able to apply their knowledge in leisure, study and work situations. The student understands the importance of expertise in the field of business and is able to analyze his/her own expertise.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student has achieved the objectives of the course with excellent marks. The student masters commendably the course subject area’s concepts and models. The student is able to make justified and fluent analysis and to present concrete development measures. The student is well prepared to apply their knowledge in leisure, study and work situations. The student is able to analyze the business sector expertise and the development of his/her own expertise.

The student has achieved the course objectives fairly. The student will be able to identify, define and use the course subject area’s concepts and models. The student understands the criteria and principles of the expertise development.

Assessment methods and criteria

The course evaluation is based on the following:

1. Attendance (min. 80%)
2. Homework
3. Final exam

50% of the grade is related to attendance and homework, and 50% to the final exam.
Students need to score a minimum of 50 points in the final exam (100 points) to pass the exam.
In addition, to pass the course, students must pass the final exam.
