Objective

After completing the course, the students are able to:
• identify different knit fabrics, differences between them and understand the impact of material selection on industrial design and manufacturing.
• choose the materials and manufacturing methods suitable for knit garments.
• pattern and shape different knit garments.
• understand the basics and standardized ranges of knit garment measurements.
• design knit garments based on the unisex sizing chart.
• pattern clothing with various measurements (women’s, men’s and unisex) using a sizing chart.
• describe the ways of fitting knit garments and understand how to improve their function by pattern making.
• recognize high-quality and good-fitting unisex garments.
• instruct, illustrate and document knit garments for industrial manufacture.
• measure knit garments in their range of grading.

Content

Sizing knit garment patterns in the standard size, taking into account the flexibility of the material and the style. Drawing up a unisex sizing chart based on the sizing charts of men and women. Appropriate work practices and assembly methods for manufacturing knit clothing. Fitting knit garments made with various measurements, and fixing patterns made using the unisex sizing chart, to attain adequate fit. Sizing a garment in standard size based on a set style and patterns. Producing product and sizing instructions for the standard size, and adding grading ranges to the measurement table.
