Objective

The student understands the phases of a conservation process and knows the decision-making methodology in conservation. The student knows the significance method as a tool for conservation decision-making. The student is able to use professional terminology. The student understands the material and contextual nature of cultural heritage objects, understands the meaning of object and materials research and knows methods for materials research. The student is able to use tools and techniques used in conservation, e.g. microscopes, and utilize them for observing different characteristics of cultural heritage objects. The student is able to make proper documentation and understands the significance of preventive conservation.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is familiar with the phases of a conservation process and the methodology of decision-making in conservation and knows the significance method. The student knows professional terminology. The student understands the material and contextual nature of cultural heritage objects, understands the meaning of object and materials research and knows methods for materials research. The student is able on a basic level to use tools and techniques used in conservation. The student is able to make documentation and understands the significance of preventive conservation.
