Objective

The student adopts the project-based character and principles of conservation work and understands the requirements concerning contracting, timetables, planning, project management and reporting. The course will give skills for project working and familiarize the student with the basics of project management and different kind of projects. The student understands the whole procedure of a project starting from planning to final reporting. The course will give skills to manage own projects in working life and during studies in cooperation with others.
The course will give skills for entrepreneurial way of working. The student knows business planning in order to start her/his own business or to work as a member of business entity. The student understands risks in business and recognizes profitability factors. The student understands the complexity of working life and will have resilience to changing situations of working life.

Content

Project; definition, planning and stages, project parties and interested parties, project communication and project management; risks, timetable, resources and reporting.
Entrepreneurial attitude, entrepreneurship and public economy, types of business, founding a company, risks, cost accounting, business terms and concepts.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student recognizes the different phases of a project but does not understand the elements of project planning as a whole or the understanding of interaction between project phases is weak. The student recognizes the significance of business-oriented attitude both in working life and during studies. The student knows the main steps to launch business activities and recognizes different business entities but does not understand the differences between business models. The student recognizes factors having impact on profitability and business economics. The student has difficulties to understand the meaning of accounting or to make a simple cost calculation.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student understands the characteristic features of project work and the different elements of it and is able to describe project phases. The student understands the interdependency of different phases and project management as a whole. The student is able apply project-based working methods and shows business-oriented thinking in his/her studies. The student knows the guidelines for business launching and different business models and corporate types. The student understands the factors having impact on profitability and business economics and knows and is able to evaluate related risks. The student understands the main principles of accounting and is able to make simple cost calculations.

The student has gained the set goals with excellence. The student understands the meaning of project management and entrepreneurship-oriented way of thinking and is able to apply them in professional context as well as in studies. The student knows how to draw a project plan, realize and report it. The student knows how to set up his/her own business and different corporate types and is able to evaluate the risks and profitability of it. The student knows the basics of accounting and is able to make simple cost calculations. The student is able foresee his/her own business orientation and resilience in changing working life situations. The student understands the meaning of entrepreneurship-oriented thinking and project-based working in his/her own professional life.
