Objective
Human-oriented working method in osteopathy 3 cr
Students encounter the person professionally, appreciatively and empathically with health-promoting approach. Students recognise the person-oriented approach, and work in dialogical interaction with the person. Students observes the vertical posture of the person’s body, they practice health-oriented communication and document their observation. Students combine anatomical knowledge with palpation. Student localize the shoulder girdle and upper limb muscles by using muscle activation, and evaluate the tonus of those muscles. Students use professional terminology. Students use knowledge of ergonomics in their work with patients.
Orientation to clinical practice 1 cr
Students understand the whole of the osteopathic clinical process from the perspective of the student and patient. Students observe clinical work of their student colleagues in small groups. Students demonstrates ability for teamwork in clinical settings.
Basics of psychology and basic therapeutic skills 1 cr
After the course, students are able to define psychological phenomena and take into account the basic principles of therapeutic working. They recognise the impact of their own persona in interaction situations. They are capable of motivational interview and interaction. Students are capable of ethical reflection in patient situations. They learn to identify the limits of their own professional skills and well-being.
