Objective
Students are able to take into account the cultural and linguistic backgrounds of the participants of a communication situation. Students are able to communicate the information that they have acquired both verbally and in writing. Students know how to use communication methods used by special needs groups and possess the oral and written skills in the second national language (Swedish) required for work assignments within their own field, as laid down in legislation governing the universities of applied sciences.

Failed
- The student does not know or appreciate knowledge in the field sufficiently
- The student does not know or cannot use concepts in his field properly
- The student's professional level is insufficient
- The student is not acting in accordance with his training and guidance

- The student is unconcerned about professional safety or ethical principles
- The student is not motivated by or participating in group or development work

The course includes at least 3 credits of to allow students to achieve the oral and written skills in the second national language required for work assignments within their own field, as laid down in the Polytechnics Act (352/2003, section 8). These communication skills should be at least equivalent to skills level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference.
