Objective

The student is knowledgeable of stages of child development and the course of a human’s life. The student can describe the changes in the human body caused by aging and impact on functional capacity. The student can describe the central anomalies in lower extremity alignment and functions in different ages and the principles of the research, rehabilitation and treatment. The student is able to interact with people in different ages. The student can choose appropriate podiatry methods to support growth and development and clients’ functional capacity in different ages.

Content

-Podiatry in different stages of life
-Lower extremity development before and after birth
-Child’s growth and development milestones
-Central aspects of lower extremity growth and development
-Impact of motor development on child’s upright posture and basic locomotion
-Children and youth as well as elderly as podiatrist’s clients
-Podiatric services for children, youth, and elderly
-Special aspects of functional evaluation of children, youth and elderly
-Central lower extremity problems and illnesses during childhood and old age, and their rehabilitation and treatment
-Functional evaluation and support of clients in different age groups
-Lower extremity rehabilitation and treatment during childhood and old age
-Foot-wear in different ages
-Multi-professional collaboration in treatment of clients in different ages
-Gerontological and geriatric sciences
-Theories and research of aging
-Aging process of different organ systems
