Objective

Local Area Networks (CCNA1):
After completing the course, the student understands basic terminology relating to reference models, LANs, WANs. The student knows the basics of Ethernet operation and Ethernet switching, IP addressing and the basics of IP subnetting. The student is able to set up a small LAN segment of two workstations, an Ethernet hub and a router connection, calculate subnet and set the workstation’s TCP/IP parameters and use ping to test destination reachability.

Internetworks (CCNA2):
After completing the course the student knows the basics of router management using console connection, configuration and showing the status of the router. Concerning the routed networks, the student knows the basics of RIP, OSPF and EIGRP routing protocols, testing IP-connectivity and troubleshooting. After completing the course the student can design and build small routed networks. The student can connect a local area network into a larger network, configure needed IP and routing parameters.

Virtual Local Area Networks (CCNA 3):
After completing the course the student knows the features of switched local area networks. The student has knowledge of how to design virtual local area networks and knows the operations principles of the spanning tree protocol. The student also can configure operational parameters on Ethernet switches, define virtual local area networks and route traffic between them.

Wide Area Networks (CCNA 4):
After completing the course the student will understand the common concepts of wide area networks: available technologies, services and framing types. The student gains an understanding of implementing address translation, access controls lists and DHCP-services.

Content

Local Area Networks (CCNA1):
Basic network terminology relating to network protocols, networking models: Open System Interconnection (OSI) model and TCP/IP model, Ethernet operation, Internet Protocol (IP) addressing, subnetting and masks, Domain Name Server. Routing fundamentals, Structured Cabling and concepts: bandwidth, throughput, more details on 10/100/1000/10 G versions of Ethernet.

Internetworks (CCNA2):
Routers, basic configuration, static and dynamic routing, default route, routing protocols, testing IP-connectivity, troubleshooting routing, startup sequence of a router, interior gateway protocols, routing loops and elimination of routing loops.

Virtual Local Area Networks (CCNA 3):
The course focuses on the following: Ethernet switching, command-line interface configuration of switches, Virtual LANs and configuring of inter-VLAN routing. Spanning Tree Protocol, VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP), VLAN concepts, LAN design goals, considerations and methodology.

Wide Area Networks (CCNA 4):
Address translation, DHCP, wide area networks, network management and concept of client-server systems.
