Learning outcomes
The students will identify the contributory factors to human well-being. They will understand the importance of inclusion and the sense of community to human well-being. They understand exclusion and being disadvantaged as an individual, a community based and a societal phenomenon. The students are able to distinguish between the structures and processes that cause exclusion in a society. The students identify ways to prevent exclusion.
Content
Contributory factors to well-being and social integration. Social risks and problems at different stages of life. Socio-pedagogical means for supporting participation and preventing exclusion.
Teaching methods
The course consists of lectures, two group assignments, exam and potentially a study visit as well.
Location and time
Teaching mostly takes place on Myllypuro campus. Independent group work takes students to different parts of the capital region. The potential study visit is in Kontula.
