Objective

After completing the course, the student is capable of justifying their pedagogical choices and actions based on theories of teaching and learning as well as teacher ethics. They are able to describe premises of educational and cultural politics affecting teaching practices. They can reflect on teaching situations they encounter by utilizing theoretical knowledge of learning and teaching.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student is able to observe and describe pedagogical situations they encounter utilizing theoretical knowledge on learning and teaching. They are able to justify pedagogical choices and actions based on theories of teaching and learning as well as teacher ethics.

Prerequisites

- The student is able to utilize learner-oriented pedagogical practices as an expert in the one-to-onetuition of their own instrument or in early childhood music education.
- The student is capable of constructive interaction and goal-directed, learner-oriented music teaching.
- The student can plan and implement larger pedagogical arcs based on the learner’s strengths.
- The student is able to give feedback on longer learning processes and is able to use feedback as an activating and encouraging teaching method.
- The student is able to analyse learning and teaching situations in a versatile manner.
- The student can reflect on their pedagogical thinking and activities.
