Objective

The student understands the basics of fluid mechanics. The student can solve different kind of calculations of fluid dynamics.The student can solve pressure loss calculations. The student knows how to choose correct pump or and blower for the process. The student is familiar with basics of heat transfer. The student will be familiar with heat exchangers.

-Basic principles of fluid mechanics
-Reynolds number, laminar, transient and turbulent flow
-Pressure equipment, standards, drawings and pipes
-Calculation of pressure loss
-Pumps and blowers characteristics
-Pipings and pressure loss
-External flow, drag and lift
-Fluid machinery and nozzles
-Basics of Heat exchangers
-Basics of heat transfer

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student can solve simple problems of fluid dynamics. The student can solve simple pressure loss calculations. The student knows the basics of heat exchangers.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student can solve problems of fluid dynamics. The student is familiar with a different kind of pumps and blowers and knows affinity laws. The student is able to calculate heat exchanger related problems.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student can solve and calculate different kind of problems of fluid mechanics.The student can calculate simple pressure loss in a piping system and choose correct pump or blower for it. The student can calculate heat exchanger related problems.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student can solve simple problems of fluid dynamics. The student can solve simple pressure loss calculations. The student knows the basics of heat exchangers.

Prerequisites

The student can understand simple natural scientific phenomena and the student has the basic mathematical and science skills needed to calculate physical phenomena.
