Objective

The student is able to work as part of a band, gaining experience in playing and/or singing as both accompanist and soloist. The student is able to take responsibility as a member of a group, being able to prepare their own musical scores, if necessary.

The student knows how to use essential music technology applications that can be utilized in performing, studying, practicing and teaching music. The student develops their communication skills and is able to reflect on their own work and that of others, as well as express themselves both verbally and in writing. The student is able to produce and interpret musical notation.

Content

During the course the student learns to use notation and sequencing software and other tools that are part of a modern performance environment. The student learns to use modern sound monitoring in performance situations. The course ends with a concert which utilizes the technology of a modern performance environment.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

- Completion of set assignments and tasks according to schedule.
- The student is able to work independently in practicing a repertoire.
- The student can act as part of an ensemble, understanding their role in it and is able to communicate their own musical views.
- The student is able to use the means of expression typical of his instrument and typical of the selected repertoire.

Prerequisites

The student is capable of working independently in different professional situations related to popular music & jazz performance. The student is familiar with the background and presentation practices of the repertoire they are performing. The student masters the technique and means of expression of their instrument at a basic professional level.
