Objective

The student is able to apply theoretical, practical, and experiential knowledge and skills in planning and implementing one-to-one, ensemble or group tuition. The student can reflect their own experiences as part of the musical activities and utilize this in their pedagogical development. The student is able to create meaningful learning situations using functional methods within the scope of basic education in the arts even without their own instrument.

The student is able to guide the learning and performance of ensembles (band, chamber music ensemble, vocal ensemble, choir) with an encouraging and supportive pedagogical approach. The student can specify factors that affect musical interaction and learning situations and explain their importance in familiar teaching environments. The student is able to create functioning ensembles, select or compose repertoire suitable for them, and guide different instruments of the group.

Content

The common content of basic education in the arts (composing, improvisation, listening to and perceiving music), creative group activities and related teaching practice and guidance. Basics of band pedagogy and teaching practice, along with visits to other educational institutions related to the student’s specialization. Advanced instrument or band practice and guidance, based on the student’s choice. Independent learning assignments.

- The student is able to guide creative musical group activities according to the common content of basic education in the arts (composing, improvisation, listening to and perceiving music).
- The student is able to coach ensembles.
- The student is able to analyse learning situations at a more profound level than the visible.
- The student is capable of reflecting on their pedagogical group tuition competence and conducting continuous professional development.

The student is able to identify and solve challenges in learning processes, utilize group dynamics, and prepare meaningful learning assignments for the group. The student is able to creatively apply different musical elements in group tuition. The student is able to teach improvisation to a group considering the musical and stylistic contexts. The student is capable of reflecting on their pedagogical group tuition competence and conducting continuous professional development.
