Objective

Students know the concepts of graphic design and typography and they are aware of the special requirements of various graphic design products. Students are able to communicate with images, text and their joint effect and they can use tools for professionals. Students can apply their graphic design skills in practice.

Content

- History of graphic design and typography
- Understanding the graphic design industry and the job description of a graphic designer
- Idea generation and problem solving skills
- Use of desktop publishing software and pixel and vector graphics editors
- Publishing service management
- Basic concepts and rules of typography
- Stylistic and technical criteria for selecting a typeface
- Preparing for print

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student knows the concepts of graphic design and typography and they are aware of the special requirements of various graphic design products. The student is able to communicate with images, text and their joint effect and he or she can use tools for professionals. The student can apply their graphic design skills in practice. The student meets the attendance requirement. The student completes assignments to a satisfactory standard. The student understands the core content of the course.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student knows the concepts of graphic design and typography and they are aware of the special requirements of various graphic design products. The student is able to communicate with images, text and their joint effect and he or she can use tools for professionals. The student can apply their graphic design skills in practice. The student actively participates in class.
The student completes assignments independently and shows initiative.
The student completes assignments on time. The student masters the content of the course and applies the learned knowledge in his or her work. The student is capable of independent information retrieval.

The student is able to communicate with images, text and their joint effect and he or she can use tools for professionals. The student can apply their graphic design skills in practice. The student actively participates in class and demonstrates self-directed learning. The student completes assignments independently and demonstrates initiative and creative problem solving skills. The student completes the assignments on time.The student can apply the learned knowledge in his or her work in an original way.
The student is capable of independent information retrieval and application of information.
The student demonstrates progress in developing a professional identity.
