The student is able identify deterioration of upholstery and causes for this. The student knows how different materials are taken into consideration in conservation of upholstered furniture. The student knows how upholstered furniture is documented, cleaned, conserved and restored. The student is able to identify previous restorations and treatments of upholstered furniture. The student is able to judge the advantages and disadvantages of different conservation treatments and choose best solution in order to preserve the artefact and the information carried by it.

The student knows materials and techniques used in upholstered furniture. The student is able on a basic level to research and identify upholstery materials. The student understands the necessary theoretical and applied principles related to the course theme. The student is able to acquire independently reliable data upon course theme. The student is able to do basic conservation treatments, knows the main principles, materials and techniques for conservation of upholstered furniture.
