Objective

The student
• knows the principles of manufacturing methods
• is able to choose the most suitable and cost-effective manufacturing method for each product and understands the impact of selection on dimensioning, dimensional accuracy and design
• is able to choose suitable machining values, tools and fasteners for manufacturing
• is able to produce a product based on a working drawing and a 3D model
• understands the principle of CNC machines and is able to make simple programs for CNC machines.

Content

• Manufacturing methods: cutting, moulding, electrical erosion, sintering and additive manufacturing
• CNC lathes, machining centers and flexible production systems
• Theory of cutting machining and selection of machine values
• Basics of NC programming and ISO code
• Product design taking into account manufacturing requirements
• Tolerances and surface finish and dimensioning of pieces in terms of manufacturing
