Objective

The student is able to describe and reflect collaborative learning in music and creative activities from the learner’s perspective, and can use this to develop their own pedagogical thinking. They can search for relevant information about music education as well as reflect and share this with peers in verbal and written forms. The student can be flexible and constructive in interaction and group work while also recognizing and paying attention to learning curve of peers. They can reflect concepts and different views on learning and teaching, and observe their impact on the surrounding teaching culture. The student can use music education methods diversely when constructing plans for teaching situation as well as apply these plans to practice. The student is able to take into account the different needs of learners, group situations and holistic perspectives that influence learning. They can reflect on their own development as a music educator. They are able to work flexibly in different group tasks.

Content

Learning as a part of healthy community life, different forms of music activity and learning, preparing for and constructing pedagogical processes, learner-centred approach to music education, interaction, individual and group reflection.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student is able to construct music activities taking into consideration aspects of the course of life and interaction that affect learning. They are able to identify different approaches and values underpinning the learner-centred approach to music education and to identify how these are realized in pedagogical practice. They can reflect on their own learning and the teaching situations they have experienced and observed. The student is able to act as an active member of the group and can give constructive feedback to fellow group members about their contribution.

Qualifications

The student is able to recognize and describe elements of creative group activity practices, pedagogical processes and approaches. They are able to reflect the factors influencing musical interaction and apply these notions to their own learning. They can reflect on their development as a music educator.
