Objective

On completion of the course the student can
- responsibly develop innovative practical and concrete solutions, practices, products or services with multidisciplinary partners to meet the diverse future needs and current challenges in the Helsinki Metropolitan area.
- define the concept of innovation and take development methods into use.
- apply project and network-based work, creativity and competence in regional, national or international development work.
- use his or her personal skills and abilities to work in multidisciplinary collaboration and working environment.
- create a culture of cooperation and negotiation for successful teamwork.
- use his or her skills in problem solving, collaboration, technical and communication skills to support the collaborative development processes and joint decision making of the team.

Content

The concept of innovation, development work management and building a development team.
Collaborative project and innovation work and assessment: brainstorming, future-oriented concepting and planning, customer and user understanding, contracts and copyrights, communicating, publishing, productization, marketing and implementation planning.
Multidisciplinary teamwork, stakeholder activities and networking.
Innovation development tools and methods.

o 29.8. Starting information 9-10: 30 remote lecture PRELIMINARY TIME, CHANGES POSSIBLE The lecture will be given by Juha Järvinen: The zoom address will be announced in the implementation workspace.

10: 30-12: Evaluation criteria, innovation competence and process, self-evaluation (if not already done). Inno tasks.
Afternoon: Orientation assignments in small groups 13-15: 30
Either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday Customer meeting with project-specific schedule. You'll check back later.

Teaching methods

Content: An authentic project for the needs of working life. Development of a new solution in a multidisciplinary team: student teams in music, culture and partly other degrees. Small group teams are divided at the beginning of the course.

The student reserves the following times for joint meetings. The course lasts for the first period on 29.8.-13.10.2022

Teaching 2 c,r on Mondays: Lectures 9-16
Tuesday 9-12.00 Student groups' own working time (book a time in the calendar for 7 weeks, the whole period of 1)
Wednesday 9-12: 00 Student groups' own working time (book a time in the calendar for 7 weeks, the whole 1 period)
Thursday: Teaching 9-16:00
Minnofest 12.10 8:30-13 Zoom or Live happeneing: Arabia or Myllypuro

The projects need a professional perspective in the field of music, image, script, production as well as marketing. On the course:
- is a preliminary assignment that you can do in the fall about a week before the start of the course
- you participate in five-person multidisciplinary innovation teams and meet students from other fields
- you develop a challenge together based on the customer's wishes and your own ideas

Content scheduling

7 weeks project rounds and week assignments: Orientation, idea phase, concepting, prototyping, testing, productization, launch and go to market phase, assessment.

Further information

Multidisciplinary innovation project is a joint endeavor of a working team. Distant work in teams can be conducted in locations chosen by the team and its teacher. Project challenge can be chosen by the student (2 choises by the student, will be nominated to one project challenge).
