Objective

Students
- can apply the core theoretical and clinical competence of the clinical practice environment to the public health nursing of pregnant women, children and families
- are able to work as public health nurses to maintain and promote the health of pregnant women, children and families in a client-oriented way.
- follow the ethical guidelines and principles of nursing and public health nursing
- work responsibly as members of work groups and work community
- are able to assess their competence and develop it further.

Content

Clinical practice includes learning laboratory and simulation studies 2.5 ects
Family counselling; supporting growth in parent-, mother- and fatherhood as well as couple relationship
Supporting early interaction
Follow-up during pregnancy
Emergency childbirth
LENE examination: evaluation of the neurological status of preschoolers
Vaccinating children
Detection, prevention and care of children’s infectious diseases
Special questions related to promoting children’s health
Outreach work of public health nurses in child health clinics
Documentation in public health nursing
