Objective

Students
-can request for a consultation and make a preliminary report.
-know how to implement intermediate level pre-hospital emergency care of major patient groups independently.
-understand the legislation on emergency care.
-are capable of manual airway management and by means of supraglottic airway devices and intubation.
-can read and interpret the ECG, in particular various arrhythmias and ischemic changes.
-are proficient in the authority network and the most common data terminal equipment.

Content

Interpretation of arrhythmias and ischemic changes in ECG
Airway management with intubation
Use of monitor-defibrillator (Cardioversion, synchronization)
Implementing CPAP ventilation therapy
Pre-hospital emergency care of the most common patient groups at intermediate level
Standard pharmacotherapy in emergency care
Care protocols of emergency care and legislation on them

Retake can be tried twice on pre-scheduled times. In case of failing both retakes the course has to be repeated. Elevating grade can be tried once in next possible retake. Further information

It is the responsibility of the student, being absent from either orientation or other classes, to find out about the contents missed from fellow students
o Theory classes involving assignments are of compulsory attendance
o Clinical laboratory /Simulation teaching are of compulsory attendance and students are required to wear appropriate protective uniforms. Instructions given in asepsis lectures are to be obeyed during practices
• NOTE! Course related drug calculations and clinical labs/simulation has to be accepted prior to medical nursing practice
• AHOT: partial AHOT decision has to be received before participating the course. Student will enroll on the course and participate in Orientation. Partial AHOT has to be presented to the course teacher before Orientation, when it is agreed how student will accomplish the required parts of the course
