Objective

On completion of the course, the student
- can explain methods of constructing foundations and related requirements
- can explain how to protect groundwater
- knows basics of water pollution control
- knows basics of waste water treatment
- knows the basics of constructing landfills
- knows how environmental impact assessment influences environmental engineering.

Content

1. Soil and bedrock, their characteristics, groundwater
2. The physical and hydraulic quality of the soil
3. Water pollution control
4. Waste water treatment
5. Landfill construction
6. Principles of Sustainable Development
7. EIA (environmental impact assessment).

Teaching methods

Aiheeseen liittyviä tehtäviä tammikuun alussa ilmoitettavam aikataulun mukaan. Etukäteen voi valmistautua kurssiin palauttamalla mieleen mm. YVA:n ja pohjaveden suojelun.

Content scheduling

Tehtäviä on 5-6 kpl. Palautuspäivä on joka kuukauden 15 ja viimeinen päivä. Kannattaa varautua tähän oman ajanhallinnan näkökulmasta. Kaikki tehtävät ovat aihepiiriltään erilaisia, mutta liittyvät osittain toisiinsa. Ensimmäinen tehtäväpalautus on 31.1.2022.
