Objective

Students recognize and are able to name the muscles of the shoulder and the upper limb in professional terms, major nerves and blood vessels. They can explain the function of the muscles of the shoulder and limb in the movements of the joints. They are able to explain the function of the nerve impulse, the neuromuscular junction as well as the contraction mechanism of striated muscle. Students meet the patient professionally, appreciatively and empathically with a health promoting approach.

Students work in a person-oriented manner, and in dialogical interaction with the person. They are able to palpate different type of tissues in the body. Student are able to palpate the pulses of the upper and lower limbs. They can combine anatomical knowledge with palpation. They can locate muscles by using muscle activation and evaluate the tonus of those muscles.
