Objective
The students are able to recognize and assess the needs for research and development that are important for work life and clients using services. The students master the general starting points and basics of research and development activities and are able to apply them to develop work life in their own field of education.
The students are able to acquire, evaluate and critically justify research-based knowledge and professional practices in their field. The students master the basics of critical thinking, forming concepts and theory, and they understand the importance of the conception of knowledge in the development activities. The students base their activities on good research and development ethics and understand the importance of data protection. The students know the basics of planning research and development activities and the contents of the research plan, and they understand the importance of making a research plan.
Content
The starting points, the nature and process of research and development activities. Knowledge and obtaining information. Critical thinking and justification. Principles of forming a concept and a theory. The conception of knowledge. Assessing information and professional practices produced in the research and development of one's own
professional field. Planning research and development activities. Ethics and data protection of research and development activities.

Mandatory participation is required. If a student cannot participate to a lecture, the student must attend to an exam covering the topic of corresponding lecture. In any case, whether participating to lectures or not, the learning assignment must be done.
