Objective
Students know how to use neuropsychological knowledge in the
rehabilitation of impairment caused by cerebral dysfunctions. Students are aware of the symptoms, clinical examination and basic treatment models of the most common neurological diseases prevalent in Finland as well as their prevention and present rehabilitation practices. Students develop their competence in creating a therapeutic relationship with the rehabilitees, considering their possible neuropsychological disorders. They develop their competence in the
analysis of motor control and equilibrium and explain the relation between various neurological disorders and functional ability of people of various ages. Students use appropriate assessment methods for functional ability as a basis for planning and implementing physiotherapy, considering the rehabilitees’ individual situations and their significant others as well as the phase of rehabilitation and the operational environment. Students develop their competence in instructing rehabilitees and their significant others,
considering their resources and individual needs.
