Objective

By applying scientific writing practices to their thesis, students will be able to edit and distribute information to their community of experts, as well as consider the target audience when making edits and distributions. Students will gain an understanding of writing as a process and will be able to develop their own writing process. As well as using feedback, the student will also have the opportunity to provide feedback on others' work.

Content

• An overview of the thesis writing process
• Understanding the different parts of a text and how they are structured, as well as how to differentiate between self-referenced and borrowed material
• Effective citation of sources: textual references and bibliographies
• Communication of thesis results
• Tools for writing, such as proofreading software, electronic dictionaries
• The process of editing your own work for publication

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Approved/Failed. Evaluated based on the selected text portion by the student. Acceptance also requires active participation in meetings and exercises.
