Osaamistavoitteet

The course is designed for healthcare professionals doing their Master´ s level studies. The study unit will inform
healthcare professionals and empower them to provide safe high quality antibiotic use. Through this study unit
participants should be able to understand core competencies of antimicrobial stewardship, how they can be applied to
common clinical scenarios and share experiences with other colleagues across Europe.

Student
- Is aware of the threat of AMR on the global, national and local level
- Understands the concept “One Health” and the impact of antibiotic use in humans, animals, plant, and environmental sectors
- Understands the relationship between antimicrobial use and resistance development potential of individual antimicrobial classes/drugs
- Understands the role of good antimicrobial prescribing for quality of care and patient safety
- Understands the role of AMS as a cornerstone activity to control AMR and quality/safety of antimicrobial treatment in an individual patient, and to be aware of the cost-effectiveness of AMS
- Knows how to advocate the role of AMS in the setting, where he works, to other health-care professionals, to stakeholders and to the general public
- Knows the scientific evidence for Antibiotic Stewardship programmes.
