Objective

The student anticipates the development of new laboratory methods in the chosen area of clinical laboratory expertise and applies acquired knowledge in multiprofessional teams. The student is able to plan, execute and evaluate the implementation and development of clinical laboratory methods.

New clinical laboratory methods and their usability (patient outcome). Laboratory method verification and validation.

The course has three sections and three assesment tasks, comprising the following credits:
1.New methods in the clinical laboratory (2 cr)
The student makes a written assignment on a chosen method
The student writes an evaluation of another assignment

Qualifications

Bachelor of Health Care (Biomedical Laboratory Science) or other applicable Finnish higher education degree (Bachelor's or Master's degree at a university or UAS) combined with a previously acquired vocational college diploma of a laboratorian. Alternatively, an overseas higher education degree that corresponds to the previously listed Finnish degrees, combined with valid professional practice rights in Finland, or a directive certificate.
