Objective

Student
- is able to care for and guide a woman who has given birth vaginally or by caesarean section and her family, and support their recovery after childbirth
- is able to care for and monitor a healthy newborn baby, identify and respond to changes requiring special attention
- can support early interaction between parents and newborn baby
- is proficient in postnatal checkups as a whole and how to provide contraception guidance after birth and during breastfeeding
- is able to bring up sexuality after childbirth
- is able to support parents' perinatal mental health
- understands the importance of prevention and early intervention in promoting family health and well-being
- is proficient in the principles of postnatal care of the mother and the newborn in special situations
- is proficient in the principles of neonatal resuscitation and CPR and adult CPR
- is proficient in the management of a planned section in midwifery

Content

Postnatal recovery and related nursing concepts, practices and potential challenges in recovery
Dealing with the birth experience and preventing fear of childbirth
Care and monitoring of a newborn, situations requiring special care and resuscitation of a newborn
Management of abnormal postpartum haemorrhage
Postnatal check-ups and contraceptive guidance after birth and during breastfeeding, in accordance with the current legislation
Family-centred counselling, support for early interaction and promotion of perinatal mental health
Parenting psychology
Planned caesarean section

Qualifications

Theoretical studies included in professional nursing studies and at least clinical practices in internal medicine and surgery, unless otherwise agreed in the student's PSP.
