Objective

Students are able to
Describe the cause of presbyopia and the influencing factors for its development
Explain the principles of binocular vision and anatomical foundations for it
Distinguish binocular vision disorders and describe the factors causing them, symptoms and management
Distinguish accommodation disorders and describe the factors causing them, symptoms and management
Describe the principals of the tests of the binocular vision and accommodation
Assess normality of the test results of binocular vision and accommodation
Calculate the corrective prism and spherical dioptric correction to control accommodative convergence.

Recognize the presbyopic symptoms and determine near addition
Binocular vision

Assessment methods for fixation disparity
Assessment methods for stereo acuity
Assessment methods for accommodation
Assessment methods for vergences
Heterophoria and vergences
Accommodative disorders

Qualifications

The prerequisite for this course is the successful completion of a valid course of study in accordance with the curriculum in force, where the student has demonstrated sufficient knowledge and skills in the following subjects: The student is able to determine the objective and subjective refractive error

The prerequisites are fulfilled when the student has passed the following courses: Refraction and Eye Examination Practicals 2: Refraction
