Objective
The student will describe the most common diseases and problems that cause the need for body orthoses and their solutions. The student will know the different types of body orthoses and their uses. The student will assess the impact of structural and functional impairments on human functioning and be able to make decisions about assistive device solutions based on their knowledge base. They will have a basic understanding of the principles of measuring and fitting the most common body orthoses. The student will deepen his/her knowledge in the assessment of assistive devices. The student will be familiar with the main players in the field and their product range.

The course deals with the principles of sustainability, which are applied in the selection of materials, taking into consideration their recyclability, durability and ethical production, as well as in the utilisation of innovations and technology, while promoting social responsibility in health care.
