Objective
The student is able to explain the antigen-antibody reaction. The students understands the structures, functions and disorders of the human immunological defence system. Understands the importance of the complement system in the human defence system. Understands the HLA system and is able to explain rejection reactions related to tissue transplants. Understands the operation of the allergen and laboratory methods and examinations related to it. Understands the principle behind vaccination and is familiar with the general features of the Finnish vaccination programme. Is able to perform the most common immunochemical definitions and understands the principles of their functioning, while also assessing the reliability of results. Is able to evaluate the costs of immunochemical testing, and the life cycle and multiple purpose of the equipment used for the testing.
