Objective

The student
• can identify the details of the bones in the upper limbs and describe the structure and functioning of joints in the upper limbs
• can identify and name the muscles in the upper limbs and know how to describe the movements they generate in each joint
• is able to describe the structure of the thorax, the joints of the ribs and the special characteristics of the different parts of the spine
• is able to explain the location and basic functioning of the most important muscle groups in the torso and the neck area
• can identify the core structures of the musculoskeletal system using palpation
• can explain the composition and physiological importance of blood as well as the structure and core functions of the cardiovascular system, the lymphatic system and the respiratory system
• can describe the basics of exercise physiology.

Content

• Structure and functioning of the upper limbs: bones, joints, muscles
• Structure of the thorax, functioning of the different parts of the spine
• Torso and neck muscles: deep muscles in the back and the back of the neck, neck muscles, abdominal muscles, pelvic floor muscles, respiratory muscles
• Palpation in the identification of structures
• Physiology: blood, blood circulation, lymphatic system, respiration
• Basics of exercise physiology

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Mastery of the subject matter is at least 50% of what is asked.
Students systematically use professional concepts of foreign origin.
Students identify anatomical structures and repeat their meaning.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Mastery of the subject matter is at least 70% of what is asked.
Students expertly use professional concepts of foreign origin.
Students identify and describe anatomical structures and discover connections between structure and function.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Mastery of the subject matter is at least 90% of what is asked.
Students use widely and expertly use professional concepts of foreign origin.
Students identify anatomical structures and explain their function by analysing connections between structure and function.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Mastery of the subject matter is at least 50% of what is asked.
Students systematically use professional concepts of foreign origin.
Students identify anatomical structures and repeat their meaning.
